26 Dec '09 I bought a '55 Willys Station Wagon. The rig was in good shape, little rust, glass was near perfect, came with a Chevy V8, the rest was OEM and it all worked. I had always wanted one of these and finally decided to buy and build one.
NOTE this is NOT a 'Restoration'. This is to be a DD, rock crawler, off road rig, camper and expedition rig.
For the purists, I am sorry, but its for me, by me and in this case, most likely the 'end of the run' rig...meaning my last build, my final keeper. I am however keeping it at least outwardly in appearance of what it was in 1955. I fully expect this rig to head down the highway at 75 mph safely, something it won't do now nor would it do in '55. And its not going to be a mall cruiser or show car either, it will be a DRIVER.
The plan is to take my '03 Jeep Rubicon, frame, OR 241 transfer case, NV3550 and my Dyantrac ProRock 60's and marry all to the '55. In addition adding in the suspension as in coil springs, AC/heat, PS/PB etc. Or marry the body to the '03 Rubicon frame, suspension and driveline sans engine (4.0L).
Stay tuned for more:
